The Ewe language has been documented by linguists since the 19th century, and its traditional calendar system reflects a people deeply connected to the land, the seasons, and the sea. The Language Roots Hub Ewe Wall Calendar 2027 brings that knowledge into a format you can use every day of the year.
This is not a generic wall calendar with Ewe words pasted over it. Every month name comes from the Ewe linguistic tradition, sourced from Westermann and other established academic references on the Ewe language. The festivals noted in it are real cultural events. The photographs reflect the actual world of Ewe-speaking communities across Ghana and Togo.

A Note on the Ewe Language
Ewe is spoken by millions of people across Ghana’s Volta Region, southern and coastal Togo, and parts of Benin. It belongs to the Kwa branch of the Niger-Congo family and is one of the better-documented languages in West Africa, partly because of the early missionary and linguistic work done in Ewe communities from the late 1800s onwards.
But documentation in academic books and documentation in daily life are two different things. This calendar closes a little of that gap. When Ewe month names appear on the wall of a home or classroom, they become part of the living language again, not just a subject of study.
The Hogbetsotso and Asogli Festivals
The Hogbetsotso Za festival, celebrated by the Anlo Ewe people, commemorates the migration of the Ewe from Notsie in what is now Togo. It takes place every November and draws Ewe communities from across the region and the diaspora. The Asogli Yam Festival, celebrated in the Volta Region, is a thanksgiving harvest celebration tied to the agricultural calendar. Both are marked in this calendar with context so you understand what they mean.
Who Is This For?
It is for Ewe-speaking families in Ghana, Togo, and the diaspora who want their language represented in their homes. It works well for schools in Volta Region communities, churches with Ewe congregations, researchers and language learners, and anyone who wants to mark the year in a language that carries real cultural depth.
